Trichy: Southern Railway has introduced paperless ticketing facility at 57 rural railway stations in Trichy railway line through UTS app.
Many of us have had the experience of waiting for hours at railway stations to get unreserved train tickets. Due to this many people missed the train.
In order to prevent such bitter experiences from happening again, a smartphone app called UTS was launched in April 2015 to easily buy tickets without waiting for long at the ticket counter in Southern Railway to get unreserved train tickets.
The number of people who download and use this app on their smart phones to book unreserved tickets is increasing day by day. However, you can use this app to buy unreserved tickets only up to a certain distance from the railway stations.
The public has been continuously requesting the Southern Railway Administration to expand this. In this situation, the facility of taking tickets using UTS cell phone application has been implemented in rural railway stations (halt station) in Southern Railway.
In this way, this facility has been newly introduced in 57 rural railway stations in Trichy Railway Division. A halt station is a railway station in a rural area. Here the agents will issue the train ticket to the passengers.
At present, the facility of getting train tickets through UTS mobile app has been established. Accordingly, tickets can be booked before entering these railway stations and travel by train. Villagers around Trichy are happy with this new facility.
Officials of Southern Railway's Trichy Division said, "Unreserved tickets were being issued at Gramapura Halt railway stations through agents. Now, the facility of getting tickets through UTS mobile phone app has been established.
By this, train passengers living near these stations will benefit. Through this app, season tickets, platform tickets and unreserved tickets should be purchased before entering the railway stations."
