Tiruchirappalli International Airport New Terminal

 Prime Minister of India Mr. Modi  and the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Stalin will visit Trichy on January 2, 2024 to inaugurate the new terminal. Its built at a  cost of  951 Crores.


Construction of new terminal

On February 10, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the construction of a new terminal at the Trichy International Airport at a cost of Rs 951 crore through a video presentation. The Airport Authority Group had planned to complete these works by September 2021 and bring the new terminal to public use.

The opening ceremony was not held

However, the three years 2021, 22 and 23 kept getting postponed as the works were not completed due to various reasons including the spread of Corona virus. Even though 2 or 3 successive inaugurations were arranged, the inauguration ceremony was not held as all the works were not completed.

Following this, the work which has been going on day and night for the past few months with additional staff has now reached its final stage. The highlight of the new terminal is that the newly constructed terminal is 60 thousand 723 sq.m. It is laid out with 2 floors in area.

Parking

It has 40 check-out and 48 check-in counters for immigration to handle 4,000 foreign passengers and 1,500 domestic passengers at the same time, 10 aprons and aero bridge for aircraft parking, 26 lifts and escalators, 3 checking centers for customs. , X-ray screening centers at 15 locations, VIP waiting rooms at 3 locations and a parking lot to accommodate around 1,000 cars on the airport premises.

Rajagopuram

Also, colorful paintings have been beautifully painted in the station premises to proclaim the civilization, culture and traditions of the nation. A model tower like the Srirangam Rajagopuram has been designed at the front of the new terminal.

Electricity through solar power

Similarly, various facilities like infrastructure and decoration have been made with new state-of-the-art facilities in areas like arrival, departure and passenger waiting rooms. The roof of the new terminal is designed to generate electricity through solar energy. Apart from this, an air control room with an observation tower of about 42.5 m height is being constructed at a cost of 75 crore rupees.

It is said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this new terminal with all these features on January 2. Already important BJP figures camped and inspected the airport premises. Further security arrangements were made by Metropolitan Police Commissioner N. The police, led by Kamini, have been conducting investigations for the past two days.
